The biggest lacrosse weekend of the year kicks off Friday, Nov. 20 with the Philly Charity Showdown. NXT is incredibly excited to work with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital as all net proceeds from the evening benefit TJUH's Comprehensive Concussion Center.
The Philly Charity Showdown features six games that showcase the area's top talent. All-star teams from Pennsylvania and New Jersey square off in a seventh-grade game as well as an eighth-grade game to get the night started off right. Tryout dates are to be determined.
After that, it's time for the big boys to come out to play. Six nationally-touted clubs battle in three games, while two of the country's finest high school teams also do battle.
The 2013 Philly Charity Showdown, which was attended by nearly 100 NCAA coaches, marked the first lacrosse games to ever be played at a Major League Baseball stadium.
The Philly Charity Showdown is open to the public.

Ryan Tessler has been the head coach at Holy Ghost Prep since October 2012 after a year as an assistant and has developed the Firebirds into a top-25 team in the Philadelphia area. A four-year starter as a faceoff specialist at Saint Joseph's University, Tessler is also the the Director of the NXT Bandits at the middle school level and also coached as an assistant coach at Bethpage (N.Y.) for three years.
Jeff Baxter enters his second year as the NXT 2023 head coach and has previous assistant coaching stints at Widener University women's program, Neumann University, Strath Haven High School and Westtown School. Jeff was a four-year starting attackman at Saint Joseph's University.
Kevin Goforth is the owner of the Philadelphia Freedom Lacrosse Club and also coaches its 2016 and 2020 teams. He has been a volunteer assistant coach at Bishop Shanahan since 2012 after three successful years as the school's girls lacrosse coach. He was named an honorable mention selection for Philly Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2011 and has 12 years coaching at the Lionville Youth Association. He played midfield at Washington College.
Steve Holmes has been a career coach since 2006 and has enjoyed ample success in his young career. Highlights include a national championship assisting the defense for UVA in 2011, a 24-0 perfect season as defensive coordinator of the 2014 Malvern Prep Friars, and multiple league titles and playoff runs as a head coach and assistant coach at the high school level. Holmes continues today as nationally-ranked Malvern Prep’s returning defensive coordinator. He started every game of his collegiate career at the University of Virginia, where he was named an All-American in 2005, and plays defense for Major League Lacrosse's New York Lizards.
Billy McKinney founded Big 4 Lacrosse with the intention of giving the top lacrosse players in the Philadelphia area an opportunity to learn skills and showcase talent. He has spent years coaching at the NCAA Division I, III, high school and youth levels, including stints with Lafayette College and Saint Joseph's University, and is the defensive coordinator at Penn Charter.
Evan Pettit is an assistant coach at Penncrest and helped guide the Lions to the 2014 PIAA state championship and also coaches for the Rose Tree Optimist program at the first and second grade levels. He was a four-year starter as an attackman and a two-year captain at Elmira College.
JC Valore is the head coach of St. Augustine Prep and the Director of SouthShore Lacrosse. His Hermits teams have produced 15 All-Americans, five Courier Post Cups and eight conference titles before the school went independent in 2012. St. Augustine is traditionally rated as one of the best teams in the country. He was also the New Jersey Under Armour coach from 2011-2013 and the New Jersey Garden State South coach from 2008-2010. He was a midfielder at the University of Delaware.
Kerry Weigner has been the Director Team Turnpike ELITE select teams, player development programs, camps and leagues for the past 12 years. He is an assistant coach at Immaculata High School and has helped guide the school to 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014 Non-Public B State Championships. In 2009 and 2011, Immaculata also reached the Tournament of Champions semifinals. He was a head coach for nine years and was named Coach of the Year by The Trentonian and The Trenton Times, Coach of the Year Bianchi Division in the NJILCA and recipient of the 2005 Len Roland Sportsmanship Award presented by the NJIL Officials Association. Additionally, he was an assistant coach New Jersey Under Armour team Underclassman Games this summer.
Adam Cummins has served as both a player and a coach. He played at La Salle College and as a defenseman for the Explorers, he earned two-time All-American honors. He went on to play at Towson University, where he achieved two-time first-team All-CAA honors and was named team captain in his senior year.
He is a head coach for the SouthShore Lacrosse Club. he also serves as the Director of Reaction Lacrosse training boys lacrosse in Southern New Jersey. Prior to SouthShore and Reaction, he was the Varsity assistant at Lenape High School in Mt. Laurel (N.J.) and coached youth for the Medford Warriors.
Allen Fitzpatrick has been teaching and coaching at The Lawrenceville School since 1979. His career record as head Hockey Coach from 1982-1992 is 138-86-3. He has been the head lacrosse coach since 2000, winning State Prep A Championships every year since 2002. He was selected as NJ Pitt Division Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2008. In 2013, he joined the U.S. Lacrosse Century Club with his 200th win.
Bill Keane is the President and founder of the South Jersey Shamrocks, Vice-President and youth coach for West Deptford Lacrosse and owner of Lacrosse Republic. He has held various coaching positions from 3rd grade to varsity in the past eight years and coordinates recruiting for Shamrocks high school players.
Brian Wolchok is the current owner and director of the New Jersey Lacrosse Club, a program for boys from grades 5 through 11, as well as girls in grades 7 through 9. NJLC has grown exponentially in the past 3 years, and not only focuses on lacrosse skill development and competition, but also college recruitment counseling and community service initiatives.
His lacrosse background spans more than 20 years, first as a student athlete at St. Anthony's High School in Huntington, NY as well as Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, and then in a coaching capacity. He spent several years as an assistant coach at Wagner College, then moved into the high school arena, helping start the Northern Burlington Regional High School varsity program. He also has coached at Robbinsville (N.J.), Notre Dame (N.J.) and in the Robbinsville Lacrosse Association recreational youth league.

The 2014 Philly Charity Showdown will be held at Citizens Bank Park, the incredible home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Philly Charity Showdown has been the only lacrosse event at Citizens Bank Park.
